Ever heard of the famous Irish poet, Carlos Wide?

Nick H

The above heading refers to the lovely lass from the emerald isle representing "Walking with a limp" who became exasperated in not being able to work out the anagram question about a famous Irish poet (Oscar Wilde), especially as she apparently knew all famous Irish people! - I'm dying to find out what Carlos Wide is famous for in Ireland.

That aside, over £200 worth of prizes were distributed this evening. After the first half of the quiz it looked as though either "Theo's Angels" or "Berko Bandits" would romp away with the £40 first prize, but the boss lady Rose (Against All Odds) had other ideas and rallied her troops to have a stonking second half to come through on the rails in the final furlong to take the prize. "Just the two of us" and the "Dynamic Duo" fought over the £20 second prize with the latter prevailing for the second week running.

With only one Jackpot envelope left, all teams knew the £150 cash prize would be won this evening and a particularly obscure 'closest to' question was chosen to give everyone a fair chance. Whereas the aforementioned "Theo's Angels" rather disappointedly missed out in the quiz, they went home with the cash and much happier!

We do it all again next Wednesday 30th October when the Jackpot cash prize will again be £150. As always, help the Highwayman ensure all teams are seated comfortably by booking your table in advance on 01442 285480.
