There was another close-run contest at The Hare and Billet quiz tonight, as the favourites were just pipped to the post by a team making their quiz debut. After 40 questions, frequently victorious stalwarts The Tabasco Fiasco and new hopes The Braves were tied for first on a modest 32 points, three ahead of nearest challengers And Then There Were Five on 29...and so it went to a tiebreaker. In a superb display, The Braves were only a few metres away from the correct numerical answer to the tiebreaker and won themselves a richly deserved £50 bar tab first prize. The “almost wooden spoon” (i.e. the prize for second last) tonight went to Purbricks, who took home a voucher for a free bottle of wine for scoring 21 points.
