Some Interesting Answers.

Richard L

The regular quiz on a Wednesday night at The Eagle in Hoxton, always produces some interesting team names but last night some interesting answers as well.
There are always two bonus drink prizes, one in each round, so extra questions have to be asked for these and quizmaster Richard Linton always favours questions with a numerical answer. The reason for this is simple, it gives more people the chance to "have a go", because an answer can be (and sometimes is) a lucky guess. "How many of London's churches were destroyed in the Great Fire Of London", was the question. The right answer was 87 but many and varied were the guesses some perhaps more likely than others. Several quizzers thought that the answer was none - but we don't often have trick questions so wrong! My favourite answer was two and a half thousand. Even in Rome, which seems to have a church on every corner, there aren't two and a half thousand! Eventually a young lady managed to get an answer closer than any other so earned herself a bonus drink prize.
If you're good at guessing the right answers why not pop into The Eagle on a Wednesday. We start at 7:30pm.
