An Honourable Team.

Another busy and lively quiz at The Eagle on Wednesday evening. Fourteen teams competing for a cash prize of £148, enough money to buy at the very least a round of drinks!
After all the questions had been asked and answer sheets marked and checked, quizmaster Richard Linton went around collecting the final scores, deducting the appropriate number of points from the teams with more than six players.
Reading out the scores Richard declared the winning team to be "The Commune" with an excellent score of forty points. There followed some whoops of joy and applause but after a few moments a team member form "The Commune" came over and told Richard that his team was not worthy of the honour - the final total was only thirty points!
What had happened was that the total number of points scored in the whole quiz had been written in the space reserved for the second half score. Richard had added the first half to the total making forty points as the winning score.
After apologising for a natural mistake, Richard declared that a team of three ladies, "Wuran Clan" was the correct winning team but he also asked the quizzers to applaud the sportsmanlike behaviour of "The Commune". Huge applause followed celebrating not only girl power but a team of thoroughly decent and honest people. Well done "Wutan Clan' and well done too "The Commune". Please come back and next time maybe you will win properly!
