"You're gonna need a bigger quiz," they said

Amity as you know, means friendship. And The Duchy Arms has it in spades. It was a record quiz at The Duchy Arms last night as 16 teams had (what I can only assume was) the time of their lives, wrestling with questions on onions, Viagra, Jaws and Severus Snape. At the end of the royal rumble, Quizzly Bears leveraged their Birdbox knowledge to edge out "Toon Raiders" (whose knowledge of horse markings impressed everyone) for the second-from-last bottle of wine. Just ahead of them were: "Rosemary's Baby's Godparents" (incredible monarchy expertise), "This Table Has No Confidence In The Govt" (in-depth Spice Girls data), "I'm Still Waiting For My Burger" (great on celebrity recognition), and "Matching Stripey Shirts" (who lost a mark due to mishearing their own team's whispering! 'Bad Robot' NOT 'Mad Robot'). "Parr's Back" (smashing the cryptic tube station questions), just behind "Quiz On Shirley!", who returned after a seven month sabbatical, to get the Cats Musical question spot on. Dynamic duo, "Raisins Not Prunes" earned the points-per-quizzer award, boasting superb insight into Princess Diana's life and times - who knows what might have happened had their 3rd team mate been there...?! "The Easiest Trade Deal In Human History" got 3 from 3 on the Gnarls Barkley song question, finishing one point behind "Inglorious Basderds" (very good on Blade Runner) and "Order, Order... O.O.O.O.ORDER!", who also nailed the song lyrics. With one point more, and earning my team name prize were: "Quizzness In The Front, Party In The Back", particularly quick on the anagram. Beyond that, just two points separated those on the podium. "Uncle Iain" took Bronze, demonstrating extraordinary knowledge of cities in Alaska (how...? Just...how?!), one point behind 2nd placed "Pass The Duchy", who knew their way around my smoggy pea soup question. Top spot, just one point more, went to "Fake Quiz - Sad!", whose music video expertise was what pushed them out in front. Yikes! What a night. Jackpot restarts next week. £120 to be won. Like a $3,000 bounty on a shark, it can be paid in cash or by cheque. Come and get it! You got any better suggestions?!!!
