The shop in the film 'Notting Hill' is a TRAVEL book shop!!!!!

Charles C

It may have been chilly outside last night but things certainly got pretty heated inside The Duchy Arms, not least when I said I was happy with teams not specifying that the book shop in the film Notting Hill is a Travel Book Shop. The room erupted in indignation but we like a little bit of light-hearted pedantry and it only added to the fun. As it happened, teams had written 'Travel Book Shop' anyway so it was difficult to know what all the fuss was about! Following the buffet of questions on topics ranging from Henry Ford and Adolf Hitler's relationship to the Child's Pose in Yoga, the final scores were quite a close-run thing. "The Regals" got the consolation pack of Starburst, just behind power-couple: "Peanut Butter Jelly Time", who had played a skillful campaign to win the bottle of wine and my points-per-quizzer prize. "Charlie's Angels", back to full strength, were next, boasting excellent Amy Winehouse knowledge, finishing just half a point behind local legends "So Much For Dry January", whose team name I got wrong throughout the evening (it must be a gin taking its toll on my brain). "Chasing Charlie" nailed the tube station questions, while "Team Flem" who described the second half as "a basic b*tch of a round", proving incredibly adept at celebrity identification. Just missing out on podium position (possibly because of a name change?) was "Jeff", who barely lost a mark in the second half, with particularly strong Donald Duck insight, while taking bronze, "The Rookies", with their lucky dog mascot, demonstrated especially good film knowledge. The first prize £40 bar tab came down to a double tie-breaker (both teams having got the same number on the first one), with "Fishermen's Friends" fractionally closer than "Fake Quiz - Sad!" to my question on the largest weight lifted using a human beard (63kg! Unbelievable!). "The Regals" won through to the jackpot envelopes but didn't get the money. £174 up for grabs next week. Roll up! Roll up! Come one, come all. #onlytheduchyarmshastheanswer
