In another closely run quiz, the teams found themselves within four points of each other at half-time, having battled with questions on map symbols for a theme park (carousel NOT a Ferris wheel or a park bench!); sperm whales being able to hold their breaths for up to 90 minutes; and having unearthed the secret location of Jurassic Park. In the second half, we learned that Queen Victoria had nine (yes, you read that correctly - nine!) children and an 'aglet' is the name for the tip of one's shoelace. At the end, one team had gapped out an impressive lead of five points, beating teams with scores that might have won the quiz in a different week.

Recent London arrivals, "Kids Corner" just missed the bottle-of-wine prize on their first appearance at The Duchy Arms, proving themselves very proficient on the anagram. That second-from-bottom wine went to some other new regulars, "Prime 29", who did well to know that it was Elton John who had described Michael Jackson as 'a disturbing person to be around'. "Joe's Hoes" and "This Is Not A Drill. Please Evacuate The Pub Immediately" were next, both correctly getting the 50:50 celebrity face split.

In joint third were: "French For Mushrooms" and "One Of Us Was The Reserve For A Winning University Challenge Team", both getting the answer for the lazy-summary-of-a-movie question on Mad Max: Fury Road. Taking silver, "Quiz In My Pants" did well to get 3-from-3 on the Daft Punk - Get Lucky song lyrics question AND on the cryptic celebrity question. However, out in front, winning the £40 bar tab was "Backstop's back...alright!", who even knew that numismatics is the collecting/study of coins & currency. Unbelievable scenes.

When it came to the jackpot, "One Of Us Was The Reserve For A Winning University Challenge Team" got the closest guess to my question on the number of lumps of rock which comprise Stonehenge (right answer: 93!). And having said that they "literally never win the jackpot", choosing the right jackpot envelope meant they had to eat their own words with a cool slice of humble pie as I handed them the £62 jackpot.

The jackpot restarts next week so there is cold. hard. cash. to be won already. You just need to come and win it.
