Another momentous night of quizzing at Beer Hawk!
Fabulous new team, HEBDEN BRIDGE, were fully armed with glorious G&Ts to fuel them for an intense night of quizzing. Jen, Amy and Rachel you did a fabulous job - and thank you for giving me my personal favourite 'spicy cracker answer' of the night. YAS KWEENS. Securing the coveted 'second-to-last' bottle of booze were Anna and Sean, of team ANNA AND SEAN (aptly named). Sean was MIA for the first few questions, and it took Anna three answer sheets to get the answers in the right boxes . . . so at first, I didn't quite know what to expect from this delightful duo. But as we battled through the second round, it was Sean's love of popular singer, Cher, that really clinched them some all important points. Anna - excellent Lady Gaga knowledge, and you're right, that Tibetan Mastiff really did look like a Chow Chow. In forth place were our terrific transatlantic couple, The Morgans. Christie and Jeremy once again proved themselves to be hot quizzers - particularly with Christie's extensive knowledge of the movies of Christian Bale (and whether he eats and/or sleeps in those movies). Shame there were no Ronnie Corbett questions this week (I also appreciated learning the correct pronunciation of the word 'France'). In third place were super team FRANK, with the fabulous addition of Sarah and Anya. Ladies, your enthusiasm was a joy to behold (and lovely James, I'm so sorry you've JUST missed out on the top spot again. Next week is your week - I can feel it in my knees). And in first place . . . it was a tie between new teams CLUELESS and THE BASICS! Woah. It was tense. However, after a Downtown Abby tie break question, Andrew pipped it for THE BASICS and they won the £50 bar tab! WOO HOO! AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A TABLE. THEY DID THE QUIZ ON THEIR KNEES. WHAT A WONDERFUL DISPLAY! Well done to Carmen, Jason and Andrew of THE BASICS. And hard luck to Ian, Rob, Amy and Andrew (sorry about making you wait for Waitrose, Andrew) of team CLUELESS. You were a real force to be reckoned with and 'ABBA' was a wonderfully clever (if incorrect) answer.
Gina and Talia behind the bar were, once again, the real stars of the night. Securing 38 points and serving everyone their delicious booze. You are powerful queens and I adore you.
