All-comers roasted by the "Turkey Quizzlers"

The point count this evening indicates a tough quiz. The second half of the quiz traditionally being more difficult than the first, but on this occasion proved proved to be the exception to the rule with most teams more than doubling their scores in the second half. There were some exceptions however - no names no pack drill, but "Paws 4 Thought" were at least consistent!. With only "Turkey Quizzlers" and "Pork Scratchings" making it into the thirties, the former prevailed by three points to claim the £40 bar voucher first prize, much to the (pleasantly competitive) consternation of "Team One".

A tiebreaker was necessary to separate old favourites "Chalfont Ladies", "Better Luck next time" and newcomers "The Jolly Gobbos". In coming from the emerald isle "Better luck next time" were always going to be at a disadvantage in providing a educated guess at the coronation year of Edward VIII - and were only over four centuries out! - leaving "The Jolly Gobbos" to win the £20 bar voucher second prize by being a single year closer to the answer than the "Chalfont Ladies".

We also needed a tiebreaker between "Pork Scratchings" and "I'm an Idiot" (!?!? - see last week's blog) ) to decide who would select from the remaining six envelopes for the £110 jackpot cash prize . The latter winning through, but were indecisive between envelopes 3 and 8 and in ultimately going with envelope number 3 and will now wonder if they shouldn't have gone with envelope number 8! So, the Jackpot cash prize increases to £137.50 and rolls over to next week's quiz on Tuesday 2nd April; 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start as usual.
