History was made tonight in The Bookcase Bar at The Jam Tree in Clapham Old Town, as our longest standing quiz champions, the duo currently playing under the team name of "Hired Goons", were finally defeated by another group of boffins, a trio of handsome young lads collectively known as "Card 21". Ladies and gents, these boys are not just pretty faces! And what an exciting competition it was...

At half time, new players the "Happy Smiley Faces" were in the lead with 21.5 points, "Card 21" were in second place, with a somewhat poetic 21 points, and both teams were ahead of the favourites who were 2 points behind on a score of 19. But things took a sharp turn in the second half, and at the end of the final round, "Happy Smiley Faces" were down on 34.5, while "Card 21" and "Hired Goons" were tied in first place with 41 points apiece. So we had a tie break. And while anyone who has quizzed with us in the last few months would have put their money on "Hired Goons" coming in with the first correct answer, it was "Card 21" and their knowledge of Swaziland's imminent re-naming, that took tonight's long-held title and the £50.00 voucher. Seriously well done gentlemen. We were mightily impressed!
