After the England National Football team had delivered a 4-0 thrashing of Kosovo, our loyal quizzers gathered at the Hollybush in Loughton hoping to subject their rivals to a similar fate! Our teams were put through their paces this week, being asked questions that required a little bit of working out beforehand. For example, our wily crew may have known that somebody born under the star sign Sagittarius was a Sagittarian but they'd need to know that Sagittarius is also known as 'The Archer' to even attempt the question! Then there was the question of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman being the leads in Stanley Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut'. Simple enough, you'd think, but one would have to know that it was Kubrick's last film before naming the actors themselves! Finally, the question of a sport that shared the name with a relative of the pumpkin meant that you had to answer two questions to get one answer- squash! Phew, it was quite the brain workout! Van Morrison's Dustbin rose to the challenge, scoring a very cool 40 points and the aptly named 'Bottle of Wine' lived up to their name by coming second last with 19.
