We had plenty of "Dick Chenies", but no Trumps!

Nick H

And none of them had American accents! We did however have a (false) fire alarm, a flatulating dog and Bonnie (a baby) who slept through what was a most convivial evening at the Red Lion in the delightful village of Chenies, where I understand there is still no parking on the common.

As to the quiz, the questions must have been difficult as it was not what you'd regard as a high scoring affair. 28 points was sufficient to take the £50 bar and food voucher first prize with the clear winners being "Dick Chenies" - you don't need much up top to be the Vice-President of the United States , or more to the point, the President!! - from joint runners-up "Chessnuts" and "Boyces". From experience I've learnt that special skills (althought I haven't quite worked out what they as yet) and dexterity are required to win the second prize (a bottle of house wine) for coming second last. Those skills were shown in abundance not by the aforementioned Bonnie, but her parents in the form of "Bonnies Brains".

All teams played for the Jackpot cash prize of £50 and "Bonnie's Brains" again featured by winning the opportunity to do a round of Play Your Cards Right. Suffice to say they managed only two cards so the Jackpot cash prize increases to £60.50 and rolls over to the next Quiz Night at the Red Lion on Thursday 3rd October.
