Team Paolo Is/Are the Winning Team

We went on a lengthy detour during this week's quiz about the grammatical grey area of "is a band" or "are a band". No conclusions were drawn.
Team Paolo were the champions (was the champions?!) but in second place came the solo player 'I Am Young I Need the Money'. I felt like a proud mother as he collected his bottle of wine! He'll be drinking it at the end of the month, when dry January is done.
