I Value Xylophones Like Cows Dig Milk

Charles C

The heartwrenching story of one quizzer's costly trip to Margate last weekend was not enough to dampen the mood at The Duchy Arms last night. With a £40 bar tab and cold hard cash to be won, the energy remained high. Questions on the Harlem Globetrotters, Denis Thatcher and Angola put players to the test and created a real spread of scores. Wonder-couple "Last But Not Least" just lost out to "I Went To Margate And All I Got Was An £80 Fine" for the bottle of wine, while the middle of the pack was a battleground for "Richard & Nick", "Nil Points" and "Stormy Daniels In A Teacup" (great name!). At the end of it, having lost by one point last week, "Pass The Duchy" returned with passion and an excellent knowledge of flags and Banoffee pie to finish five points clear of second place, "Fake Quiz – Sad!". "IWTMAAIGWA8F" got closest to guessing the world record for longest swim underwater with one breath (200 metres!) but the jackpot went un-won. £80 up for grabs in next week’s jackpot. Favourite bit of learning, the first letters of ‘I Value Xylophones Like Cows Dig Milk’ helps one remember the order of Roman Numerals. I hope that will prove useful someday, in a somewhat bizarre set of circumstances probably.
