Tonight saw the inaugural takeover of local gin distillery Hayman's as they brought in free gin for every player and a host of giveaways handed out throughout the quiz. You could barely see people for empty bottles of tonic punctuated with slurred speech from every corner of the pub. And who said we don't give you anything at the Devonshire quiz.

No one, I hope, as the massive jackpot was also won last night after '2's company' came within seconds of the guessing the length of the song Bohemian Rhapsody. One of their chapter picked out the Queen from six cards after some lengthy consultation with the entire pub. I thought I was going to have to ask Young's for an extension, he took so long, but he and his team share £416, which isn't bad for a Tuesday night out.

I love a quiz where most teams go away with something, even if they didn't gin.
