It was the last quiz with us still officially part of the European Union and what a quiz it was to mark the significant occasion.

Love it or hate it, no first-daters would ever say no to walking away with a cool 600 smackers. Whether it was the money or not, they said they will continue to date (maybe until they've spent the money on pub dinners?). No teams got close to knowing the Guinness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin — it's a lot more than you think, by the way — but 'I Love My Flipcase' were the best of a bad crop of squashes that would have struggled at any village fair. With only three cards left on the board, they went right and found the Queen, despite not really knowing what they were doing. There was literally no reaction to turning over the card that unlocked the big prize. I hope he'll be more excited on their second date ;p

Meanwhile, it was a three-way playoff for the wine and bar tab and it was just as much of a disaster of getting close to the correct answer. It was an equal disaster for my maths, thinking 59 million was closer to 7.2 million than 7. Either way, all teams were literally millions off the correct answer, as I was millions off announcing the correct winners. But after some Oscar-like embarrassment, the prizes were handed out and everyone (I think) went home happy.

The jackpot resets to £100 but Dry January will be over and we will be knee deep into the transition period of exiting the EU. So I hope that means we'll all be at the Devonshire next week drowning our sorrows and playing for some more fabulous prizes to cheer us up. See you there!
