Dwayne Johnson Does His Bit For The Quiz!

The Michelin Man, Vegemite and tennis grand slams all played their part in last night’s quiz but the Dwayne Johnson anagram generated the most excitement. Not easy but most teams getting it in the end. Cryptic tube stations featured, as did a rich mix of questions on geography, pop culture, history, movies and music in what was an excellent evening’s quiz. Despite quite a closely packed first half, the second half stretched the teams’ scores right out. "We Got Crabs" just missed out on the second-from-bottom round of drinks, which went to "The Quizrindi Quizzyroos". Then only a handful of points separated "Top Cheap", "Fiddler On The Roof" (who had been limbering up for the win, they told me!), "Wildcats", and super-couple "Rage Against The Machine" (who won my coveted points-per-person award). Breaching the 30-point mark, "Remember Remember The Quiz Of November" (great team name) and "Jolyon’s Jesters" (with their strong celebrity facial recognition ability – John Cena!!!) were just one point apart. However, out in front, again with just one point between them, "Quizlets" just beat "God Save The Queensmill" to the £50 bar tab. Exciting stuff. Dwayne would have been proud. Turns out the cooking smell he has always gone on about was that of one heck of a quiz.
