There was a very close contest tonight at The Hare and Billet quiz, with 3 teams tied at the top of the table. After 40 questions of regulation play, Captain Trips, The Covid-3 and Coughing & Queezing could not be separated on 34 points apiece. Their nearest challengers were regulars Slartibartfast and The Chris Palmer Trio each on 31, and Thank You For Opening A Window were next closest on 29. That still left the small matter of deciding this evening’s winners, so it went to a three-way tiebreaker, and having been posed the numerical teaser, it was The Covid-3 who wound up closest to the correct answer and therefore took home a much deserved £50 bar tab first prize. Way down the other end of the table, the prize for second last (or in this case 18th place) went to HP Sauce. They bagged a voucher for a bottle of wine for managing to find 20 points along the way.
