There was only ever eight teams in it. I knew one of them would win and by heck they did. I'll tell you what happened shall I?
Come closer. Turn down that television /radio /Babe Station Channel and I'll tell you a tale to chill your heart to the bone. A tale of winners and a tale of losers.
The Event
At approximately 7.40pm human time a young man named Sean and All His Mates walked into the Falcon with dreams in his eyes and hope in his heart.
Tonight would be the night he would make his imaginary wife and invisible son proud of him.
This would make up for all those many dissapointments he had ever been to them and him.
And lo that chance did arise. That one in a thousand billion million chance to win a jackpot of thousands and thousands of pence.
Card after card fell exactly as Sean and All His Mates predicted in a tumultuous and paladonic game of Play Your Cards Right.
Then it came to the last card the whole room went quiet... This was it... The chance to totally turn his life around. The chance to take his imaginary wife on that honeymoon they'd always talked about or he could take his invisible son fishing like he'd always promised he would do. But more than that he'd have dignity, pride..... Self respect.
The last card would it be higher or lower?
With all the confidence his young mouth could muster Sean And All His Mates shouted lower..... It was higher
And then within a milli second the whole world collapsed in on Sean And All His Mates like mountain falling on ant..... with only one option.......... Death........ or failing that... Grumbling about it for a bit.
In the end The Sphincter tightened its iron like grip of the quiz. Fighting off Jamie Redknapps Boys who ended up winning the toilet paper second prize and then eventually and rightfully exploded into first place like a rocket on a stick.
