Was It Telepathy?

A very strange almost surreal moment last night at The Eagle during the regular weekly quiz. Quizmaster Richard Linton had just posed a question which would win one player a free drink. The question was, "How many people survived the sinking of The Titanic"? Now usually with a question like this there are many answers as people attempt to win a drink by guessing. Richard suggested that if the correct answer wasn't forthcoming, the nearest to it would win. After about twelve guesses a member of one team suddenly yelled out that he had the correct answer and when asked, his answer was exactly right! There followed howls of laughter and some jeering as other players clearly thought that this guy had cheated by Googling the answer. He claimed that he had the previous day, been reading about The Titanic and the answer had just stuck in his head What to do? Richard asked the "Titanic expert" a couple more questions and soon realised that although unlikely, it seemed that he was telling the truth so by reading all about an obscure subject the day before he earned himself a free drink. Coincidence or was the man concerned a mind reader? We shall never know!
