Grey Goose is French? That’s news to me

A dozen teams wrestled the 40 questions to try and win the £40 bar tab for first place or settle with the bottle of wine for second from bottom. While doing so, we learned: the Ganges river flows through India and Bangladesh; Robert Burns wrote ‘Auld Lang Syne’; and, Pope John Paul II had five kings, four queens and over 70 Presidents/Prime Ministers at his funeral. A tie-break for the bottle of wine, saw “Colleagues. Friends. Quizzers” provide a guess to the question on the number of visitors to the British Museum in 2018 (5.8million) that was slightly closer than that of “Spicy J Archer”. The wine was theirs. On the podium, were “85G” and “Fisherman’s Friends” who both got 3-from-3 on the movie poster question. Just ahead of them, taking silver, finished. “The Dooshy Arms” who were, again, superb on celeb knowledge. This week’s winners, however, were the dangerously named “Let Me Google That...”, who put in a strong performance across the board, even getting 3-from-3 on the OutKast lyrics question. “Spicy J Archers” won through to the jackpot round, getting the closest guess to my question on the record number of lights on a real Christmas tree (194,672, if you’re wondering) but, unfortunately, didn’t win the cash. Still, a rollover for next week takes the total to be won up to £175. Come and join us for the last Duchy Arms quiz of the year. You know it makes sense. #onlytheduchyarmshastheanswer
