Privacy by Design

About

We are committed to our users’ rights to privacy. We promise to share transparently all aspects of how Question One's website and services work in regards to privacy, terms, and personal data, and we are in full support of efforts to ensure your protection online.

The following is a collection of information and resources to help answer any questions you have about your experience with us.

Your privacy

Unlike Facebook, Google, Twitter, Snapchat and 99.9% of other faceless corporations we care about your privacy and your right to remain anonymous and/or completely deleted from our records for any reason.

We also believe privacy should be built-in to every service, feature or form we provide by design and opting out should be just as easy and opting in.

GDPR compliance

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) took effect May 25, and we are and have always been fully behind the spirit of these regulations for a safe and secure Internet. We aspire to embrace privacy by design and, whenever possible, to not collect and store personally-identifiable information.

Social Media

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to endure “social” media. Our use of it is strictly limited to our attempt at gathering disparate people locked behind closed doors, completely cut off from humanity (other than by cynical providers such as Facebook & Twitter who leverage friendships for monetary gain).

Using these ad-based “social” networks we attempt to engage fellow humans out into the open world where they meet face-to-face in a local pub to engage in witty banter and/or legitimate physical human connection (as opposed to virtual reality). To do this, we use Facebook and Twitter to display smiling faces of fellow humans who have disconnected from the “social” media long enough to enjoy a beer, a discussion, and a game and like-wise encourage others to do the same.

We do not traffic in your information or sell it to Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or anyone else or use it for any other purpose.

Photos

We regularly collect photos from each of our events and instruct our entertainers to gain your verbal consent before taking them. Typically these photos represent the winning team or teams. However, in the unlikely event your photo was taken and appears on our website or “social” media accounts without your consent (or if it’s simply a bad photo) we will immediately remove it at your request.

Please use this form found here and we will remove any and all photos from our records within 1-2 working days. We only use these photos in order to spread & promote our events to more people like you and engage people socially rather than online.

We do not sell, share, tag, monetize or financially profit from these photos in any other way.

Security

All of our forms use SSL encryption to protect what limited data we collect from you. We never collect sensitive, personal or financial data from our players. Other than the location in which you live we also do not profile our players in any way. We strictly limit the information we collect to relevant information (first name, last name, email, general location and relevant team information) which we use to contact you for invitations to special events nearby, our newsletter or simply to let you know in the case of an event cancellation.

Data Trafficking

We never sell your data to 3rd parties or share it with anyone (including Mark Zuckerberg or Sergey Brin) for any reason than those listed in this document or under any circumstances even under torture or extreme duress (such as being forced to watch a speech at the F8 conference).

Right to be forgotten

We have also built in a form which you can use to ensure we delete all of your data from our records upon request. We were the first Social Network to ever build into our service this feature.

You can make such a request here using this form. Once you make a request we will fulfill it within 2-3 working days, however it will not immediately be purged from our backup logs which will take 4-6 weeks before they are completely destroyed forever but will in-the-meantime remain otherwise completely inaccessible to anyone outside of Question One.

Our backup logs

Unlike all other online social networks and other large corporations, we do NOT maintain backup logs for longer than we need them (or sell them for cash). At most, our backups are stored only for a period of 4-6 weeks before they are permanently deleted.

We only use these logs in the case of an emergency where we might experience a catastrophic loss of data which has yet to ever occur.

Data Breach

In the case of a data breach will attempt to contact you within 48 hours to let you know your information has been stolen from us. We will also let the appropriate authorities know within 48 hours.

The most sensitive data we maintain is your email address and your trust.
